The Niagara SPCA recently received a cat that was abandoned on the road in a tied-up pillowcase. The feline was first found by a Good Samaritan, who spotted the pillowcase moving on the road in the pouring rain.
Niagara SPCA rescues abandoned kitten in a pillow
According to the Niagara SPCA, the cat appears uninjured by the incident and is now relaxing at the shelter while the rescue searches for an owner. The organization shared two photos of the wide-eyed, partially wet cat.
The Niagara SPCA’s Facebook post described the incident as a “heartless act of animal abandonment.” The rescue explained that the Good Samaritan saw the moving bag, stopped to investigate, and found the cat inside. She untied the pillowcase, and the cat immediately climbed into the engine of her car.
Authorities were contacted, and Niagara SPCA agents arrived on the scene to safely remove the cat from the Good Samaritan’s vehicle. The rescue said the cat was “soaking wet and a little scared, but seems no worse for the wear.”
The Niagara SPCA has taken great care of the kitten and hopes to find it a forever home
The Niagara SPCA is now checking to see if the cat already has a family and mentioned the feline may soon be available for adoption if an owner is not found. The rescue asked its followers if the dark grey, long-haired cat looks familiar to anyone.
The animal shelter is seeking answers about how the cat ended up abandoned in a tied-up pillowcase on the side of the road in the rain. The Niagara SPCA called the incident a “heartless act” and wants to find out more information about the abandonment.
