I cry because today is my birthday, I haven’t had a home for the past 7 years.

In a bustling city, hidden within the shadows of towering buildings and busy streets, there lived a dog named Bruno. Bruno was a sturdy German Shepherd with a coat that had once been glossy and sleek but was now matted and dull from years of wandering. For as long as he could remember, Bruno had been a stray, living on the streets and surviving on scraps.

Today was Bruno’s seventh birthday. Unlike other dogs, who had homes filled with warmth and love, Bruno had spent every birthday alone. He wandered the city streets, searching for food and a safe place to rest, but finding neither comfort nor companionship. His heart ached with the weight of seven years of solitude.

“I cry because today is my birthday,” Bruno thought, his eyes welling with tears. “I haven’t had a home for the past seven years.”

As Bruno walked through the park, he saw families playing with their dogs, their laughter filling the air. He paused for a moment, watching them with a mix of longing and sadness. He remembered a time, long ago, when he had been a part of a family too, but those memories were now faded and distant.

Feeling the pang of hunger, Bruno made his way to the local market, hoping to find some discarded food. As he sniffed around the bins, a kind voice called out to him.

“Hey there, buddy,” said a man with a gentle smile. “Are you hungry?”

Bruno looked up to see a man named Jack, who ran a small food stall in the market. Jack had noticed Bruno many times before and had always felt a pang of sympathy for the lonely dog.

“Come here,” Jack said, offering Bruno a piece of meat. “You look like you could use a good meal.”

Bruno approached cautiously, his tail wagging slightly. He devoured the meat gratefully, his eyes meeting Jack’s with a look of deep appreciation. Jack reached out and petted Bruno’s head, feeling the rough texture of his fur.

“You’re a good boy,” Jack said softly. “You deserve better than this.”

Jack had always loved dogs, and seeing Bruno alone on his birthday stirred something in his heart. He decided that today would be different for Bruno. Jack closed his stall early and called his wife, Sarah, to tell her about his plan.

Jack led Bruno to his car and drove him to his home, a cozy house with a spacious backyard. Sarah was waiting outside with a warm smile and a bowl of fresh water. They welcomed Bruno inside, giving him a bath and brushing his fur until it shone once more.

“Happy birthday, Bruno,” Sarah said, placing a plate of dog-friendly birthday treats in front of him. Bruno looked at the treats in disbelief, his heart swelling with emotions he hadn’t felt in years.

As Bruno enjoyed his birthday feast, Jack and Sarah showered him with love and attention. For the first time in seven years, Bruno felt the warmth of a home and the comfort of being part of a family.

That night, as Bruno lay on a soft bed, surrounded by the gentle sounds of his new home, he couldn’t help but let a few tears fall. But this time, they were tears of joy and gratitude. His heart, which had endured years of loneliness, was now filled with love and hope.

“Happy birthday to me,” Bruno thought, feeling a deep sense of peace. “I finally have a home.”

And so, on his seventh birthday, Bruno’s life changed forever. He had found a family who loved him, a place where he belonged, and the promise of many happy birthdays to come.
