Normally, we consider our dogs to be cherished members of our families, but unfortunately, not all people feel that way. The unfortunate truth is that many dogs face heartless abandonment in the most inhumane and cruel ways without any regard to the profound impact such abandonment can have on those innocent animals.

Lost Dog Found Hiding at Elementary School

Hope For Paws, a non-profit rescue organization from California, received a call about a small dog that had been abandoned at a local elementary school. When the rescuers arrived, they found the poor pup hiding behind the building, too scared to come out. He had been there for about two weeks.

The rescuers used baby gates to block off the area and slowly coaxed the dog, named Rufus, out with a cheeseburger. Though terrified, Rufus eventually allowed the rescuer to pick him up and take him to get checked out at the vet.

After just two weeks in the care of the rescue, Rufus’s demeanor had already improved significantly. He was much happier and more playful, though he still had some insecurities. L A Animal Rescue agreed to take Rufus in while he waited for his forever home.

Dog finds forever family

About a month later, Rufus was adopted into a wonderful family in Camarillo, California. The rescue noted that he is a 2-year-old beagle/corgi/spaniel mix who is good with dogs and people. Rufus has truly found his happily ever after, overcoming his fears and learning to trust people again.

The story of Rufus is a testament to the resilience of dogs and the power of compassionate rescue efforts. Despite the heartbreaking abandonment he faced, he was able to find the perfect loving home where he can thrive.
