It’s been a tense few days for the volunteers at CatCuddles, a cat charity in London. They recently rescued a stray cat, now named Roselea, who had given birth to two kittens under the decking of a vacant house. After several days of setting up traps and with the help of neighbors, the team was able to rescue the entire family. Or so they thought.

When the second kitten was caught, it was found to be much older than the first, leading the volunteers to suspect there might be a third kitten. They asked the neighbors to keep monitoring the garden, just in case. A couple of days later, the third kitten appeared, and the team was thrown into a frenzy of anxiety.

This third kitten, named Tolkien, was very young and would struggle to survive without his mother and siblings. Volunteers worked around the clock, setting up traps in the garden, desperate to capture him and bring him to safety. Finally, after a few nerve-wracking days, Tolkien was caught and reunited with his family.

Tolkien is now safe, warm, and being cared for in temporary foster care. The entire family is at the charity’s North London clinic, receiving vaccinations and being neutered. CatCuddles is hoping to raise funds to cover Tolkien’s veterinary care and to support their ongoing rescue efforts.

This dramatic rescue was a tough challenge for the charity, which is already struggling financially to keep their new North London clinic running during the pandemic. But with the support of donors, CatCuddles was able to ensure that this little family found their way to safety and a better life.
